Widowed women, or women who have been abandoned by their husbands, are the head of their families and they make up the most vulnerable sector of the population in Wukro. The absence of income and the lack of food for them and their children means that their expectations for development are limited, even the survival of the family is at stake. The objective of our action is to guarantee food security and adequate and sustainable life conditions for these women and their children through a project promoting the empowerment of these women in their community, by granting small credits enabling them to start small businesses and generating capacities through training actions. All of the women benefitting from these programs are going to receive training in basic competences for administrating small businesses as well as training in essential entrepreneurial abilities. They shall, furthermore, receive training in workshops dealing with some professional training modules depending on the entrepreneurial field these women wish to develop. Credits shall be granted to more than 100 families through a rotating fund which shall enable them to develop and work in a trade allowing them to get out from their situation of poverty. The repayment of each microcredit shall help other women in the community, thus opening up a path to get out from poverty.
